Data Values Guidelines

Site ID:
This is the site ID give to you by the sea lab.  You are only to use this if your sighting is at the location the Site ID was assign to.  If you are not at that location you need to use the freelance form

Time Seen:
This is the exact time that your sighting was made.

Size:
This is just an approximation.  Some jellyfish sting so it is safer to give us an approximation than an actually size.

Water Temp:
This will be a reading from your equipment.

Air Temp:
This will be a reading from your equipment.

Water Salinity:
This will be a reading from your equipment.

Water Clarity:
This will be a reading from your equipment.

Cloud Cover:
This is a close estimation of the amount of sky that is covered in clouds at the time the sighting was made.  Some information on this page may be helpful. 
Types of Cloud cover 

Jelly Name:
Here you will need to refer the Jellyfish glossary to acurately identify the specific jellyfish that was seen.  If you are not sure use the freelance form and give and acurate description and if possible email a picture to
dockwatch@disl.org

Additional Info:
This is where you may add any additional information that you may feel will be helpful to the scientists that review the data.

Location Description:
Best estimate of location, GPS or Loran preferred, but general location is ok. Ex. "two miles south of west end of Dauphin Island".
